Boom Repair Update.
As I displayed previously, the new sleeve was a good deal smaller than I anticipated. I was hoping to have to use lubricant and tools to get it into place.
When I saw how much smaller the sleeve was I was flabergasted. With the distance from the side walls being 1/4 in on each side I was affraid that the internal outhaul system might jam in the gaps. Additionally, I will have to remove the rivets holding the vang connection in place and thought that NO Way would I get the rivets to pull the sleeve out to the boom sides. So I called RigRite and told them I was unhappy and they suggested that the Sleeve was meant to be adjusted as needed.
So, I took out the wedge and blocks and the pursuader and went to work.

After several passes up and down the sleeve, I am now satisfied with the new shape.

I am now confident that the rivets will set and the sleeve will be retained in position as desired. There will be 6 rivets at the vang attachment, 3 machine screws at the Kicker attachment and 6 more rivets along the bottom to secure and spread the shock loads of the boom. Up to now I have been reluctant to use vang sheeting in any more than moderate winds. Haven't any others used this stiffener to reinforce your booms?

Now I am ready to remove the hardware to install the sleeve. Anxious to see what mine looks like under the vang tab. I'll share the results.
